BADGE – Sewing

Create a simple canvas drawstring tote/backpack and learn how to use a domestic sewing machine. Learn to use standard sewing machines, our Juki industrial sewing machine, and our Singer industrial walking foot sewing machine in this introductory workshop.

What you’ll learn:

  • Basic of fabrics
  • How to identify machine components
  • Thread needles
  • Adjust stitch settings
  • Change or replace bobbins
  • Apply relevant terminology
  • Troubleshoot stitch issues
  • Gather simple ideas for new sewing projects

Please note:

  • This certification is an overview of sewing machine usage and basic principles for working with fabrics.
  • Note this class does NOT cover the Serger machines, that is a separate class.
  • Students 16 years of age and up can be unaccompanied; ages 12-15 must have a guardian also enrolled in the class.  Minors must have parental permission and a signed waiver (ask us).
