About the Instructor:
Loren Vladem is a ceramicist, sculptor, and printmaker. Growing up outside of Chicago, an early interest in the arts drove her to enroll in drawing, painting, and ceramics classes at her local community house, where her devotion for ceramics took hold. Ceramics stood out, as the people were less like teachers and more like a quirky, unconventional family. Moving to Santa Fe for high school and leaving her found family was difficult, however, taking ceramics classes throughout high school made Santa Fe feel like home. She participated in the arts locally by volunteering for the prop shop at Santa Fe Opera, and spent hours hunched over the wheel at Santa Fe Clay and Paseo Pottery. Loren has volunteered at ARTsmart NM, a nonprofit that teaches art and literacy to youth. Teaching gives her a great deal of fulfillment, as she strives to provide her students the same feeling of belonging through clay collaboration that she first experienced at her hometown community house. She has also engaged in a hunger awareness charitable project entitled “Empty Bowls” in both NM and KS. Loren graduated in May 2023 with her BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute in Missouri. She sells work at Form & Concept gallery, and volunteers at both Paseo Pottery and MAKE Santa Fe. Her dedication and enthusiasm for ceramic art is contagious!
