Intermediate Wood- Art Frames

Overview:


Frames for art is an easy skill to learn but hard to master. Making frames yourself can save you hundreds of dollars and allow customization and creativity to flourish.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to create slotted frames, rabbeted frames,
  • Tips for getting a perfect miter joint
  • Various tools for cutting miters
  • Various techniques for glue-ups
  • Various ways to strengthen joints
  • Finishing and hanging tips

Please Note:

Students 16 years of age and up can be unaccompanied; ages 12-15 must have a guardian also enrolled in the class.  Minors must have parental permission and signed waiver (ask us).

About the instructor:

Patrick Reid is the Facilities Coordinator at Make Santa Fe. With a background rooted in woodworking, Patrick has honed his skills in building things from scratch, while often sacrificing time and cost.

Beyond woodworking, Patrick has delved into the world of modern technologies, exploring his interests in 3D printing, cncs, and other modern time saving tools. His enthusiasm for learning new crafts has extended to various types of metalworking, where he is actively engaged in learning and mastering diverse techniques.

Patrick’s journey is a testament to his hands-on approach to making and his commitment to staying at the forefront of both traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technologies. As the Facilities Coordinator at Make Santa Fe, he plays a pivotal role in fostering a creative and collaborative environment for makers and enthusiasts alike.
