Kiln Firing Reservation
Free
Members who have taken the ceramic badge class are welcome to reserve kilns for individual or group use.
Make Santa Fe has two reservable kilns. Members can reserve these kilns for individual or group use or wait for a firing in our community kilns.
Information:
- No Electricity or Ventilation Charges
- Firings Must be Scheduled in Advance (1 week is preferable, but check with us)
- Make Santa Fe staff checks the program before you start the kiln.
“Sparky” – Small Square Kiln
- Square Kiln Roughly 12′ x 12′ x 16″
- Capable of Firing up to ^6 (only cone 6 clay is allowed in the clay studio!)
- Outdoor ventilated
- Shelves and furniture are included in the reservation
“WeiWei” – Orange Barrel Kiln
- Round Kiln Roughly 20″ x 18″ x 18″
- Capable of Firing to ^6
- Outdoor ventilated
- Shelves and furniture are included in the rental.
“Cage” – Bisque Only Blue Kiln
- Round Kiln Roughly 20″ x 16″ x 16″
- Capable of Firing to ^04 (Bisque only)
- Uses an analog kiln sitter, not a digital controller
- Outdoor ventilated
- Shelves and furniture are included in the rental.
“Lloyd” – Glass Slumping Kiln
- Square Kiln Roughly 5″ x 24″ x 24″
- Capable of Firing to ^014
- Outdoor ventilated
- Shelves and furniture are included in the rental.

Booking Requirements:
- The temperature ranges of your clay & glaze must be approved by sending a photo of the packaging of the clay & glaze material you would like to use in your firing.
- All glaze must be removed from the bottoms of all pieces going into the glaze kiln, unless pre-approved. You are responsible for providing appropriate kiln cookies or stilts underneath your pieces.
- It is your responsibility to load the kiln yourself. Make Santa Fe staff may be available to help if necessary.
- You are expected to grind & re-wash any glaze or clay drips on kiln shelves to return them to their original condition. You will be charged an added fee for kiln shelf damages &/or glaze drips.
- You must vacuum the kiln out and return it to its original condition.
