REANIMATOR: Messenger Bag
Saturday, March 16 @ 10:00 am – 2:30 pm
Design and build a simple messenger bag out of upcycled materials!
*prerequisite: know how to use a sewing machine
What you’ll learn:
- Repair – centered product design theory
- Techniques for utilizing garbage as a primary material
- Tips for sewing with natural and synthetic heavy weight materials
- How to identify and install zipper chain and sliders
- Processes for designing and installing your own custom bag hardware
Please note:
Participants must already know the basics of sewing! Bring your own machine if you have one (use Jeans needle), or you may use one of MAKE’s. We strongly encourage having taken our Sewing Badge (which is required for members to use MAKE’s sewing shop outside of class). This is not a Badge class.
Material for this UpCycling event are generously donated by Resourceful Santa Fe
Students 16 years of age and up can be unaccompanied; ages 12-15 must have a guardian also enrolled in the class. Minors must have parental permission and signed waiver (ask us).
