Beginning Bookmaking

Get an introduction to Bookmaking by making your own journal to bring home!

What you will learn:

Students will learn to make decorated, patterned paste papers with a corn starch and acrylic paint mixture and then how to wrap it over bookboard creating the front and back covers. They will learn to create the interior signatures (pages within the book), how to use a jig to punch holes in the paper signatures and covers, and finally, assembly of the book using bookbinding thread with the Japanese side stitch technique.

Jasmine Quinsier is a passionate maker professionally and in her free time. Sheā€™s defining and breaking the boundaries at the intersection between the drawn image and its digital counterpart. As part of our laser training team Jasmine overflows with positive energy and a true passion for creating using oneā€™s hands, software, design, and laser cutting technology.
