Advanced Lathe Turning

*Pre-requisite: Attendee must have Woodshop Badge & Wood Lathe Badge & have taken Bowl Turning
Learn to turn a gorgeous piecework Urn or Vase by milling and laminating interesting woods together then turning it on the lathe shaping both the exterior and interior plus making a lid!
What you’ll learn:
- How to assemble the parts needed to build a segmented piece for the lathe.
- The kind of materials you will need to build the project.
- The safest ways to build the piece, so that it will not disassemble while turning. That includes better joinery.
- The proper tools to use and how to use them.
- Thoughts and ideas that may help finish and complete the piece with best results.
Please Note:
Workshop attendees need to be properly outfitted to attend this course. This includes closed-toed shoes, no loose clothing or accessories, and hair tied back.
Safety equipment, including protective glasses and hearing protection, is provided; however, you’re welcome to bring your own.

About the Instructor:
Kurt Miller has been a professional woodworker for 35 years and has a high amount of experience in woodturning. From spindle work making candle sticks to high-end furniture. His lathe work includes small kitchen bowls covered urns, and complicated art pieces. Kurt can get you to the point of turning out what you want.
