Powertool Racing v2 & Maker Olympics!
July 6 @ 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Powertool Racing V2
Bigger, better, faster, and back for another year! Power Tool Racing at Make Santa Fe is a blowout summer event you don’t want to miss.
Power Tool Racing is a unique motorsport in which modified power tools, such as drills and angle grinders, have been transformed into high-speed racing machines. The event will showcase these souped-up power tools as they race head-to-head on a specially designed power tool drag strip.
Whether you’re an avid racing fan, a power tool enthusiast, or simply seeking an unforgettable experience, mark your calendars for July 6. Power Tool Racing is the season’s must-see event, promising an exhilarating display of power, speed, and skill.
The Maker Olympics
In addition to the races, we’re also hosting the Maker Olympics. Attendees can compete in carnival-like games to win fun prizes and compete to be the top Maker Olympian!
Games Include:
- Board Sawthrough: Compete against the clock to saw through a 4×4 using only a handsaw.
- Nail Hammer: Compete to hammer in a nail with the fewest blows.
- Woodshop Basketball: Compete to sink the most scrap wood into a trash can from across the shop.
- Mini Battlebots: Remote-controlled mini battle bots will compete in various best-of-three competitions.
- Guess the length: Contestants guess the length of a rope; the closest wins!
- Screw Driver: Contestants drive a screw with just a hand-held screwdriver. Fastest wins!
- Sheet-good layout Challenge: Layout the cuts on a 4×8 sheet from a provided cut list.
- Tape Measure Fishing: Compete to retrieve items using only the end of a tape measure.
Attendance is free, but Make Santa Fe, a non-profit, will sell tickets that contestants will use to compete in the games.
