The wooden bowl is a reflection of both utility and beauty\u2014an inspiring craft form to experience. This 5 hour class introduces to the grains of wood as you learn the safe operation and techniques needed to turn wooden bowls on an electric lathe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to identify the best parts of a tree for a bowl blank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to orient stock for the best grain patterns to match desired outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safely and effectively mounting the bowl to the lathe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proper bowl-turning techniques<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selecting the right tools<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General safety<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshop attendees will need to be properly outfitted to attend this course. This includes closed-toed shoes, no loose clothing or accessories, and hair tied back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety equipment, including protective glasses and hearing protection, is provided; however, you\u2019re welcome to bring your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurt Miller has been a professional woodworker for 35 years and has a high amount of experience in woodturning. From spindle work making candle sticks to high-end furniture. His lathe work includes small kitchen bowls covered urns, and complicated art pieces. Kurt can get you to the point of turning out what you want.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t
