Used for firing ceramics at high temperatures as part of a Raku glaze process.
Our outdoor Raku Kiln allows members to explore the dramatic and unpredictable art of raku firing. Unlike traditional kilns, raku involves rapidly heating ceramic pieces and removing them while glowing hot, then placing them into reduction chambers (such as metal cans with combustible material) to create distinctive crackle glazes, metallic sheens, and unique surface effects. The kiln is propane-fueled and designed for small to medium ceramic work.
Members who have taken the ceramic badge class are welcome to reserve kilns for individual or group use.
