Beginning Sketch Up

July 27th from 12:30 – 3:30pm

If you’re new to 3D modeling – this is the course for you! This class will teach you the basics of SketchUp and get you on your way to visualizing your ideas in the 3D space.
We’ll introduce you to the modeling environment and cover the basic tools and provide tips and shortcuts that can make learning this (free) software a lot easier. This class is suited for woodworkers, interior designers, students and other creative makers who want to generate and modify your ideas.Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop and a mouse with a scroll wheel. We’ll be using SketchUp Free (which is web based) so all you need is a gmail account or Trimble account. Signing up for either takes just a few minutes.

What you’ll learn:

  • Create 3D shapes with the different drawing tools.
  • Navigate around your model.
  • Edit your model with the Move, Scale and Rotate tools.
  • Use the Measurement field and Tape Measure tool to create guides and dimensionally correct models.
  • Build your model using Components and Groups and edit both.
  • Add colors and materials to your model.

Please note:

There are no pre-requisites for this class and no experience is necessary. MAKE provides computers but

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop. Please ensure you have a Gmail or Trimble Account prior to the workshop
