What This Tool Is Good For

Access Requirements

To reserve and use the Enco Mill/Drill, you must:

• Be a Make Santa Fe member
• Hold the Milling Badge

Reservation Rules

• Reservations are required and must be made in advance
• Time slots are booked in hourly increments
• Only one active reservation per member at a time
• Setup, machining, and cleanup are included in your reservation time

Materials & Tooling

• Approved materials only (steel, aluminum, brass, plastics)
• Members must supply their own stock material and milling tools
• Common tooling and vises are provided unless otherwise noted
• Specialty cutters, taps, or fixtures are the member’s responsibility

If you are unsure whether a material or operation is appropriate, ask staff before machining.

Operating Guidelines

• Secure all workpieces properly before drilling or milling
• Set correct spindle speeds and feed rates
• Use cutting fluid where appropriate
• Never force cuts—light passes are required on this machine
• Stop immediately if vibration, chatter, or abnormal noise occurs

Safety & Responsibility

• Eye protection is required at all times
• Remove loose clothing, jewelry, and gloves
• Never leave the machine unattended while running
• Do not modify tooling or machine settings without approval
• Report any issues or damage immediately

Improper use may result in suspension of metalshop access.

Cleanup Protocol

• Remove chips and debris from the table and surrounding area
• Return tooling, vises, and accessories to labeled storage
• Wipe down machine surfaces as needed
• Power down the machine following posted instructions

Cleanup is part of your reservation time.
