Tell Us About You
Were looking for a good fit as much as we’re looking at your portfolio. We want to see you, your personality, your drive, and your resilience just as much as we want to see your past work.
What do you like to build or make?
(Required)
Tell us about a project you’ve made that you’re proud of.
(Required)
This does not have to be professional work.
Tell us about a project that didn’t go as planned. What did you learn?
Pitch us Your Residency Idea
What would you like to build during the residency?
(Required)
A few paragraphs is fine. This does not need to be a perfect plan. We’re interested in ideas that feel ambitious, experimental, or a little risky.
What tools, studios, or resources at Make Santa Fe might you use?
(Required)
We’re interested in multidisciplinary projects that showcase whats possible in a facility like ours. We don’t expect you to use all our studios, but we do expect you to stretch your capabilities and expand your process.
How will this project stretch your abilities or your process?
(Required)
Sharing the Process
We expect residents to document their work as it develops so others can learn from the journey.
Documentation
I can document my process throughout the residency using photographs, writing, or other media that show how the project evolves.
Sharing success and failure
I can share both successes and failures as part of the documentation process. The Maker in Residence program values experimentation and iteration.
Community participation
I can participate in the Make Santa Fe community during the residency by spending time working in the space and engaging with other members.
Presentation
I can give a short monthly talk or presentation about my project and what I’m learning during the residency.
Public Sharing
I am comfortable with Make Santa Fe sharing documentation of my project through the website, social media, or other communications.
Failure is part of the Process
The Maker in Residence program emphasizes experimentation and the creative process. Projects may evolve, change direction, or encounter challenges and that’s part of the experience. However, residents are still expected to actively participate and develop their work during the residency.
I understand that this residency emphasizes experimentation and process over polished outcomes. I also understand that I am expected to actively participate, pursue my project, and produce work throughout the residency.
Work happens at the Makerspace
I understand that my residency project must be developed primarily on-site at Make Santa Fe and that I am expected to work in the space regularly during the residency.
