Maker Highlight: Patricia Strout

Strout, on the right in the top photo, personifies what MAKE Santa Fe is all about. Her story is the embodiment of Santa Fe as a community, as much as our maker space. Strout landed in Santa Fe via a broken down car in 1982 and has been adding her own enchantment to The City Different ever since.

In addition to teaching the jewelry craft workshops at MAKE (wire wrapping and copper smithing) Strout is #NMTrue by maintaining an off-grid studio to be close to the light and mountains that captured her imagination so many years ago. Her DIY nature and willingness to figure things out by whatever means accessible are a standard indicator of the maker lifestyle.

Anyone who has worked with Strout knows she’s light-hearted and brings her sense of humor to everything she does, including her work. However, it is the size of her heart that endears her to the MAKE community.

Inspired by notions of generosity, space to hone one’s craft as a way to unearth lessons in life, and diversity we’re proud to have Strout as part of our crew.
