Join us for a hands-on tie-dye workshop where you’ll learn the Fan Fold technique, a classic method that creates bold, geometric patterns. Elissa, an experienced tie-dye artist will have the class explore color application, folding precision, and dye-setting techniques to create vibrant, wearable art. This workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced dyers alike!

We ask you to supply the material you want to dye, as there’s all types of bodies and people like different style garments or may choose to dye fabric instead of garments.

What You Will Learn:

• The Fan Fold technique and how to create symmetrical patterns
• Best practices for dye application and color blending
• How to prepare fabric for long-lasting, vibrant results
• Tips on setting the dye for washfast, professional-quality designs
  

What to Bring to This Class:

• Up to three t-shirts or 1 pound by weight of any 100% cotton fabric or garments to dye:
  
  Items must be washed on hot beforehand to remove anything that could prevent proper dye absorption. This is a great opportunity to breathe new life into old clothes! Cotton fabric can be made into wall-hangings, curtains etc.
  
  If you want new T-shirts for dying, Elissa recommends Gildan brand 100% cotton heavy duty shirts, which can be purchased online or at Walmart in the craft section.
• Close-toe shoes are mandatory at MAKE!
• Your apron (if you have one) OR wear old clothing ok to get dyed/messy!
• Dress in layers – we’ll be outside in nice weather & bring a hat & sunscreen
• Water bottle & snacks
  

Please Note:

• Ages 16+ can attend unaccompanied.
• Ages 12–15 must have a guardian also enrolled in the class. Minors must have parental permission and a signed waiver (ask us for details).
