This 4-hour class is a great way to explore MIG welding! You’ll receive the basic introduction to metal insert gas (MIG) welding, plasma cutting, and basic fabrication processes to create a small desk organizer that you can take home.

Participants will receive a comprehensive introduction to:
- Tool Safety and Shop Cleanliness
- Abrasive Saw & Metal Cutting Chop/Miter Saw
- Horizontal Bandsaw
- Angle Grinder (Cutting, Grinding, Finishing)
- Bench Grinder
- Drum Sander
- Drill Press
- MIG Welding and proper welding machine operation
- Handheld Plasma Cutter
Class Details
Adults and young adults (16+) are welcome to take any class at Make Santa Fe. Youth (12+) may take certain classes along with a parent or guardian. Ask us which classes are appropriate for 12-16 year olds.

Safety and Proper Dress for the Metalshop:
- All-natureal fiber clothing (jeans, Carhartts, etc)
- Long Pants
- Close-toed shoes with socks that protect the ankle.
- Hair must be tied back.
- Synthetic clothing is not allowed near hot-working machines (welders, grinders, torches, etc)
- Close fitting clothing is required, not loose strings, pulls, sleeves, or ties.
The following is required for any activity at Make Santa Fe:
- Closed-toed shoes
- Safety Glasses
- Ear Protection
Location: 2879 All Trades Road, Santa Fe NM, 87507
Parking: Parking is tight, you may park along the road or in the limited parking in front of the building. The lot fills up quickly. DO NOT BLOCK THE GATE.
Schedule: Class is from 10am to 2pm, be prepared to run a little late. Please arrive early if this is your first time at Make Santa Fe.
