Level up your pottery skills with our Ceramics Wheel Throwing Intensive, a four-week, hands-on workshop series designed for makers who are comfortable with basic wheel throwing and ready to expand into more complex forms and functional work. This intensive will take your understanding of clay, form, and creative problem-solving to the next level through guided instruction, thoughtful critique, and project-based learning.
Over four Sundays, you’ll explore advanced wheel skills and creative attachments that unlock new possibilities in ceramics; from lidded vessels to pitchers, teapots, honey jars, sugar bowls, and more. Students will deepen their confidence on the wheel while experimenting with design, function, and technical execution.
Each session builds on the previous one, so participants should plan to attend all four workshops. You’ll learn not only how to throw these forms but also how to combine wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques for sophisticated results. Along the way, glaze considerations, surface treatments, and finishing strategies will be discussed to help you refine your pieces from start to finish.
What You’ll Learn & Experience
- Advanced wheel-throwing techniques for lids, spouts, knobs, and handles
- Design challenges that enhance form and function
