Blacksmithing 201: Forging & Using a Punch Tool

Take your blacksmithing skills a step further in this focused 2-hour workshop with Steve Dulfer. Students will forge and refine a simple hole punch tool while learning core techniques for shaping, tapering, heat control, and tool finishing. This is a great next-step class for anyone who wants more hammer time and a deeper feel for practical toolmaking in the forge.
Class Details
The Blacksmithing Badge is prerequisite for this workshop. Prior blacksmithing experience can be substituted to take the class, however, the blacksmithing badge is still required in order to use any blacksmithing equipment at Make.
Because the punch tool you create and take home is made from H13 special tool steel, this class is priced slightly higher to cover the cost of the steel. This cost is built into the course fee and is not an additional charge.
Adults and young adults (16+) are welcome to take any class at Make Santa Fe. Youth (12+) may take certain classes along with a parent or guardian. Ask us which classes are appropriate for 12-16 year olds..
