WORKSHOP- Wood & Laser Apple Boxes

Thanks to their design, versatility, and sturdiness, apple boxes are both a staple of the film industry and a useful home/workshop tool. Their unique prism structure makes them suited to a plethora of tasks. In this workshop, students will build and take home their own laser-engraved apple boxes.
A few uses for apple boxes:
- Step stool
- Riser
- Work surface
- Plant stand
- Seat
Building apple boxes is a beginner friendly project that teaches many fundamentals of woodworking and carpentry.
You will learn:
- The 4 different apple box sizes
- How to “break down” plywood
- How to make a cutlist
- How to quickly and accurately cut multiple pieces on the tablesaw
- How to properly glue and nail panels together
- Making “inside” cuts
- How to use a handheld router
- How to align and engrave a logo or design on a workpiece
- Various finishing options for your apple box
Pre-Requisite: Woodshop badge. Laser badge recommended.
Please Note: Students must bring a finished vector file for laser engraving. Max size 6×6″ This class does not include file prep.
