Overview:
Dig deeper into the world of laser cutting by learning the ins and outs of the premier laser cutting software; LightBurn. This 2hr introductory course is the perfect next step after completing the laser cutting badge, or if itâs been a while refreshing your memory on the software side of laser cutting.
What Youâll Learn:
- Layout Basics: Get an overview of where everything lives inside of LightBurn and where to find the most essential tools.
- Design Basics: Learn how to create your designs directly inside of LightBurn without having to bounce back and forth between software.
- Library Basics: Find out how you can leverage LightBurnâs built in Art and Material Libraries to speed up your workflows.
- Indexing Basics: Have a large piece to engrave or cut? Learn how to index the piece across multiple positions.
- Image Engraving Basics: Discover the differences between vector and bitmap images and the different ways to engrave each.
- Efficiency Basics: Build on you knowledge and skillset with built-in tools to help you speed up your cuts and engraves.

- If possible, bring your laptop with LightBurn installed, though we have iMacs available at MAKE for class
About the Instructor:
Andrew Goode is a maker and creator at heart. Discovering the power of laser-cutting poured fuel on the fire for his passion of combing the physical and digital worlds. He abides by the saying: âFail Fast Forwardâ meaning no matter what, you learn from your mistakes and to just keep trying things. He has since designed and fabricated lamps, signs, bowls and much more! He loves to share his knowledge while eagerly learning and gaining more.
