WORKSHOP – Kiln Glass Fusing & Slumping

Explore the colorful world of glass art in this hands-on Glass Fusing and Slumping workshop! In this 3.5-hour class, you’ll learn the art of cutting sheet glass, using frit and stringers, and layering glass to create a unique fused piece. You’ll discover how to combine colors and textures by arranging different glass elements, and then methods for slumping to make volumetric shape.

We’ll cover safety procedures, the properties of glass, and the technical skills required for slumping and fusing glass. This class is perfect for beginners or those looking to add to their glassworking experience.

This workshop introduces you to the basic principles of glass fusing and slumping, where glass is melted and shaped into stunning designs. You’ll learn the techniques necessary to make a functional or decorative piece, such as a small plate, dish, or abstract design.

What You’ll Learn:

• How to safely cut and shape sheet glass
• Using a sheet glass grinder
• Techniques for using frit and stringer to create color and texture
• How to layer glass to build your design
• The basics of glass fusing and slumping to create a finished piece

You’ll return to pick up your fused glass piece- it gets fired at the end of class. • Students 16 years of age and up can be unaccompanied.
• Students ages 12-15 must have a guardian also enrolled in the class.
