WORKSHOP- Axe Carving

Sunday, February 23, 2025 @ 10:00 am 2:00 pm

Join us for a hands-on workshop where participants will learn the art of axe carving to transform a wood round into a spoon blank. This engaging session will introduce you to the fundamentals of using an axe safely and effectively. Carvers will gain essential skills to create a foundation for their spoon, setting the stage for further refinement. We encourage participants to take our follow-up Knife Carving course to complete their spoon project!

What You Will Learn:

  • Basic axe handling techniques and safety protocols
  • How to select and prepare a wood round for carving
  • Techniques for shaping a spoon blank using an axe
  • Best practices for maintaining tools
  • Tips for transitioning to knife carving for finishing touches

Please Note:

  • While the Knife Carving course (carving a spoon) is not required, it is recommended as a pair. It’s one week later.
  • No prior experience is required, come ready to learn and create!

Workshop Attire & Requirements:

  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Long pants preferred
  • A way to secure long hair
  • If the weather permits, we’ll be outside—dress in layers.
