Intermediate Wood: Dado Joinery
Wednesday, October 23 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Overview:
Delve into the art of dado joinery! Through the use of dado stack blades on the table saw with a dado sled as well as the radial arm saw, students learn to make lap, rabbet and finger joints.
Make a keepsake box with a lid: The sides of the box are finger joints, while the base and lid are rabbeted. From measuring and marking to cutting with jigs and final assembly, each step of the process will be explored.
Students will discover how dado joinery principles translate to a variety of woodworking applications such as construction of painter’s stretcher bars, cabinetry, drawers, and boxes.
