Interested in 3D design? Bring your ideas into reality with CAD! In this intro course, you will learn basic use of Fusion 360 – a powerful, approachable and most importantly free! CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design And Manufacturing) software.
What You’ll Learn:
- Familiarization with user interface and key settings
- 2D sketcher functionality
- Basic 3D modeling (Extrudes, revolves, holes etc.)
- Basic assembly functionality
- Tips + tricks / modeling best practices
- Exporting files for 3D printing and laser/plasma cutting
This is a great class to take prior to our 3D Printing, MIG welding, and CNC Plasma Cutting class as you will learn how to design your own files to make!
Please Note:
Project TBD! There will be a basic template but creative liberties will be granted!
IMPORTANT!: Please sign up for a Fusion 360 license prior to attending this class. There are only a limited number of Facility-provided computers. Because of this, we recommend you download Fusion 360 to your personal computer and bring it to use it in class. If using your own laptop, a mouse with scroll wheel is required for this course.
About the Instructor:
Alex Kensil is a Santa Fe local and trained mechanical engineer, having worked the past 10 years in product design. He is an expert user in various professional CAD platforms and enjoys teaching and mentoring others in all ways design, engineering and prototyping.
His current side projects include: Electrifying his vintage Subaru + designing a treat puzzle to one day outsmart his pet Corgi (Jojo)
