Bookmaking Accordion Fold with Mono-print gelli plate decorative papers
Overview:
This is a great place to start if you are new to bookmaking, and great practice if you already make books. We will learn Hedi Kyle’s way of folding the accordion ( a very different approach to the magic of folding) and make TWO books in this workshop. One, basic accordion fold book with decorative papers cover and one sewn back-to-back accordion book. These can be journals to fill later or use the decorative papers inside that we create on the gelli-plate. Sure to be a satisfying time together!
What You’ll Learn:
- Basic Bookmaking Skills with FOLD and SEW
- The pamphlet stitch
- Basic Accordion fold AND Back to Back accordion construction
- Mono printing basics on the gelli plate with acrylic to make decorative papers
- Covering bookboard with decorative paper and attaching to book body
Please Note:
Students 16 years of age and up can be unaccompanied; ages 12-15 must have a guardian also enrolled in the class. Minors must have parental permission and signed waiver (ask us).
Beginners welcome *No experience necessary!
About the instructor:
Jasmine Quinsier-Freitas is a passionate maker professionally and in her free time. She’s defining and breaking the boundaries at the intersection between the drawn image and its digital counterpart. As part of our laser training team Jasmine overflows with positive energy and a true passion for creating using one’s hands, software, design, and laser cutting technology. Jasmine has been bookmaking for 3 years and smiles a lot because life is brilliant!
