Embark on learning the centuries-old craft of woodturning. Initially, a craft born out of necessity, using a lathe has gained tremendous popularity as a hobby over the last 50 years. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you will develop an understanding of how to safely operate a lathe while building knowledge of wood grain. This is a satisfying craft where you can create things you’ll actually use!
What you’ll learn:
- Parts of the lathe
- Lathe tools (including how to keep them sharp)
- Mounting of the wood stock
- Lathe speeds for different size stock
- Hand & tool positioning
- Wood grain considerations
Please Note:
Workshop attendees must be properly outfitted to attend this course. This includes closed-toed shoes, no loose clothing or accessories, and hair tied back.
Safety equipment, including protective glasses and hearing protection, is provided; however, you can bring your own.
